The Single Wing Football Offense
Reviews
The single wing book was awesome. I have played this great
game for 14 years and now have the opportunity to coach 11 yr
old team. We are better prepared for this first season due to your
excellent book. Thank you, for our success in advance.

I recently ordered your Double and Single wing books.  They
were real good with a lot of good info.  I coach a 7th and 8th
grade Youth team in Madera, CA.  We are a small town with a
small school.  We run the Double Wing with great success.  I
used the Rocket on occasion and found it to be a good series.
One game we faced a team that used a 2-6-3 defense; 2 lineman,
6 linebackers and 3 safeties.  I they stuffed everything but the
Rocket.  Also, we used a Rocket with an inside trap to the
fullback at the same time, that really confused them.  Anyway
good luck on the next book.

Thanks for the prompt reply.  I enjoyed your book on the Single
Wing.  By the way, I just returned yesterday from Dallas from
the 4th Annual Double Wing Symposium put on by Jack
Gregory.  It was really a great 3 days, and coincidentally both
Murphy and Mensing were there as presenters.
Murphy had a presentation on his “Trojan” Sweep, as well as
“Influence Plays in the DW”.  Very interesting!!  Mensing gave a
very detailed presentation on his “Rocket” Sweep, including
timing, footwork and the usual “X’s” and “O’s”.  He also gave
out DVD’s of his highlights from last year.

Ok Robert…thanks.  I had also ordered (and received last week,
thank you!) your Single Wing book.  If the 20 Gap is written and
presented as well as the Single Wing, which I’m sure it is, I will
most certainly enjoy it too.  Good luck with the diet
thing…sounds brutal.  Thanks for the work and effort put toward
your books.

Always good to hear from you.  Thanks for the input on your
current projects.  One of the things that I love about the game is
the endless variation and variety that a coach can get into, always
fascinating.  Anyway,  I am looking forward to reading your
latest, you have the great gift of expressing yourself in a clear and
concise manner, making complex subject matter easy to follow
and a joy to read.  I am a "contrarian" myself, and love to explore
new and different aspects of our great game.  Will keep in touch-

Coach, I hope all is well.  I just wanted to say thank you, and I
really enjoyed your books on the Double Wing and Single Wing
offenses.  Being a Double Wing guy, I thought your book was a
great resource for vets and rookies alike.  The Single Wing book
was strong introduction in a simple, yet very complex offense.
When are you going to release the Double Wing Perimeter book?
Thanks again for helping all us newbie’s. -Semper Fidelis.

Coach, good luck on your new coaching job.  I know that you
will do well there.  I enjoy your books, especially the  one on the
Single Wing.  The books are well written, clear, concise and easy
to follow.  I plan on ordering the book on the Gap-Man Pressure
Defense.  I would like to see one more book on the Single Wing
from you, what a fascinating offense.  Once again, best of luck.

I must say that you have been the most dependable resource for
all of the offenses and defenses that I have researched. I am a
Single Wing guy at heart (though this year I am using the DW at
my high school) and you have helped me put things in perspective
with your organization, simplicity, and knowledge. Even though
you love the DW, you have done what no one else has with the
SW; create a comprehensive work that combines all of the work
of SW greats like Keuffel, Aldrich, Ahern, Caldwell, Lewis, and
Ragsdale and brings out the best of each. You then give us as
coaches an opportunity to implement it from scratch, help identify
personnel, choose our preference (power or deception), then give
us base plays based on our choice. Ironically, you have
tremendously helped the SW community with your work. Every
coach that wishes to run the Single Wing offense or thinks about
it should get this book; it cuts out a lot of the main problems this
offense had before this book's release; confusion of scheme!
Thanks!
